Pregnancy Care In Toowoomba

chiropractor consulting with a pregnant patientPregnancy is a time when postural and hormonal changes occur in preparation for the birthing process. Muscles, joints and ligaments are under pressure due to the constant changes happening in the woman’s body.

There are a number of reasons why a woman may choose chiropractic care during pregnancy, including:

  • Low back pain
  • Headaches and neck pain
  • Pelvis or pubic bone pain
  • Hip problems
  • Breach or posterior positioned babies
  • Poor range of movement

Our pregnancy Chiropractor Dr Emma Piovesan, is passionate about caring for pregnant women throughout all stages of pregnancy.
Adjustments are very gentle, focused and specific to what may help your body most. Before we ever perform an adjustment, we’ll take a health history to learn more about your past and future goals.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy may help manage the musculoskeletal discomfort caused by the numerous changes a women’s body undergoes during the journey to motherhood. The extra stress on the body can result in spinal/ hip/ pubic bone pain and dysfunction and muscular/ligamentous tightness.

Dr. Emma will thoroughly assess all of these structures to diagnose what the problem is. Her approach is gentle, warm and nurturing and she strives to help women achieve a comfortable pregnancy journey and birth experience.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy may assist pelvic alignment, muscular tone, and movement, which may improve the room for your baby to grow comfortably. Musculoskeletal problems in these regions are termed ‘intrauterine constraint’ and may make it difficult for your baby to get into a good position for birth.
A baby who is not in a good position may result in a more difficult labour and a more traumatic birth for both mum and baby.

At Toowoomba Clinic For Spine Related Disorders, Dr Emma will work closely with your midwife and Obstetrician, as well as your pregnancy yoga/ PT trainer to help sooth your aches and pains and prepare your body for birth and beyond. If muscles and joints are moving well, it makes sense that births are more straightforward.

Dr Emma is also able to prescribe and fit SRC Recovery pants to help with your post-partum recovery. These pants provide superior lower abdominal, pelvic and back support, and aid in increased physical activity and a stronger core while you care for your new baby.

We invite our patients to continue chiropractic care after giving birth, as many women have found it helpful for readjusting their bodies to optimal function post baby. The choice, however, is entirely up to you.
